Discovering French savoir-faire: Visitors' testimonials at Manufacture Perrin

On the occasion of the Montceau-les-Mines Christmas Market, many visitors came through the doors of Manufacture Perrin to get a close-up look at unique French craftsmanship. Among them were Catherine and Olivier, a couple who traveled from the Saint-Étienne (42) region specifically to enjoy this open day and the Christmas market organized on site.

Attracted by the opportunity to see sock manufacturing and meet those who produce them, they agreed to share their impressions. Their testimony reflects the curiosity, wonder, and appreciation of local industrial heritage that this visit inspires.

Visit to Manufacture Perrin: testimony from travelers in Saône-et-Loire

What motivated you to make a tourist stop in Montceau-les-Mines and visit Manufacture Perrin during the Christmas Market?

We had heard there was an open house to visit the company, and since we were available, we took advantage of it. The fact that the Christmas Market was taking place at the same time provided a good reason to come. Our main motivation was really to see the manufacturing process, to discover how everything is made on site.

How would you describe your discovery of the local industrial and artisanal heritage through your visit to the factory?

It was a very interesting and well-guided visit. We were given a good explanation of the entire sock manufacturing process as well as the history of the Manufacture. It was impressive to see the machines in operation and to meet the operators who explained their work to us, professions that we actually know little about.

It really enhances the brand to show all the steps involved in making a sock, things we had no idea about. We particularly appreciated the people working in the factory: they are truly involved, and you can feel the love for their work in the finished product.

In your opinion, what does this type of Made in France experience bring to tourism in Saône-et-Loire?

For us, it brings knowledge of French savoir-faire and highlights work and heritage. We discover the inside of a factory, something we never usually see.

When you buy a pair of socks, you don't know all the steps involved in making them. Here, you really discover the way of working, the sequence, the involvement of all the staff. It's great to have open days to showcase this expertise.

What did you particularly appreciate about the atmosphere of the Christmas Market and the welcome you received?

The Christmas Market was very warm, with a good diversity of exhibitors. We found the company's different brands, and it allowed us to see their values and what they represent. This is a real plus compared to a classic visit.

The context of the market, the tastings, the atmosphere, the dynamism of the people present... all of this made the visit even more pleasant.

Would you recommend this visit to travelers who want to discover Burgundy differently? If so, why?

Yes, we recommend this type of visit, because it is part of the heritage. It's always good to know where things come from, why they are made here, and it also helps to better understand the economic stakes. Seeing an active factory, with the people who work there, is part of discovering a region.

When we do tourism, we often limit ourselves to visiting cities, whereas there is much to discover about local history thanks to the opening of businesses. This really allows us to better understand the history of a city and a territory.

An authentic experience to recommend to curious travelers

Through their words, it is clear what a visit to Manufacture Perrin represents: an authentic immersion in French expertise, meeting passionate people, and discovering a living heritage. This type of experience adds another dimension to tourism in Saône-et-Loire and allows for a different understanding of a territory's history.

For these visitors, as for many others, stepping through the doors of the Manufacture means meeting the France that manufactures, transmits, and keeps a precious heritage alive. A discovery to recommend to all who wish to explore Burgundy with a new perspective.
