MANUFACTURE PERRIN

History & Values

1924

the beginning of a long story

A historic factory

The history of the Manufacture Perrin began in 1924 with the son of a Burgundian grocer who quickly understood that the sock could be both a useful product for everyone to work with, and an elegant fashion accessory, and therefore aimed at everyone. It could have been a long, quiet river for our beautiful hosiery factory which has been manufacturing socks for 5 generations, according to the rules of the art, to take care of the feet of others…

COMMITMENTS KEPT

100% French manufacturing

The Manufacture Perrin is a high place of defense of exclusively French manufacturing. By the requirement of their design, their exceptional materials, their custom-made manufacturing, our products also carry this spirit. Their quality is no longer to be proven, they are resistant and designed to last.
This determination is shared by other French ready-to-wear brands that are keen to mobilize on these same commitments. Thus, we created the Manufacture Perrin, which brings together all those who are like us.
Not making concessions on the origin of raw materials, on production and the quality of the finished product, means being deeply committed. Committed to flying the flag for Made in France, committed to preserving employment in our regions, committed to offering our customers a product of excellence.

A LABELED AND COMMITTED COMPANY

Traditional know-how & innovation

We come from a Burgundy hosiery factory, labeled “Entreprise du Patrimoine vivant”, which gave its name to our brand. Since 1924, generations have succeeded one another and taken care of the feet of everyone who wants - like us - to participate in making the heart of French industry beat and capitalize on maintaining jobs in France.
To innovate is to listen to the market and always invent products that fit precisely with what customers are looking for… Durable socks that don’t squeeze or slide down, comfortable and eco-designed shoes, jeans made less than 1000 km away. That’s also what it means to be a creator-manufacturer!
Profession, know-how, passion… Passing on knowledge also means knowing how to “be an opportunity for others” and being proud of it!

The beginnings

Francis Perrin, a grocer by trade who had retired from business in 1923, agreed to take over a workshop with his cousin Henri Guilleminot, manufacturing stockings and socks on hand knitting machines.

World War II and succession

Demobilized in 1941, René Perrin , son of the founder, took over the family business at the heart of a period made difficult by the German occupation.

The company managed to continue its activity thanks to the solidarity of the Gerbe establishments which, through Christian Dior, still managed to obtain raw materials.

Social movements and 3rd generation

The spring of 1968 was shaken by a wave of protest, which prompted René Perrin to step back and hand over the company to his nephew Guy Reynaud, accompanied by his partner and friend Serge Degtiar.

4th generation: a new commercial dynamic

Martine Couturier (née Reynaud) and Franck Couturier take over the company and breathe new life into its commercial dynamics.

Berthe: Birth of a Queen

The Couturier couple meet Régis Gautreau who has just founded the Berthe Aux Grands Pieds brand. The beginning of a beautiful human and commercial adventure

New brands

Under the leadership of Franck Couturier, two new brands were born: Dagobert à l'envers and La Chaussette Française.

First step in retail

Perrin launches its first store in Nantes. Located on the Passage Pommeraye, it bears the sign Berthe Aux Grands Pieds

Concept Store: The Manufacture

Building on the success of the Nantes store, Perrin refined his concept and opened the first La Manufacture boutique in Montceau-les-Mines .

It features its 4 brands (Perrin 1924, Dagobert à l'envers, La Chaussette Française and Berthe Aux Grands Pieds), as well as brands with the same values of quality and Made in France. 28 points of sale now make up this network.

Youth in charge

Damien Schneider and Constance Nicaise take over the management of the company while counting on the daily support of the Couturier couple.

Perrin celebrates its centenary

The 4th and 5th generation of managers are gathered around their colleagues and partners to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Manufacture.
