Dagobert Universe Upside Down
Dagobert upside down offers a journey to the heart of surrealism.
The collection questions the perception of reality and conventional uses.
Dagobert upside down is a tribute to the nonconformism and benevolence of King Dagobert (7th century), a sovereign of Burgundian origin, son of Clotaire 1st founder of the unified kingdom of the Franks.
A King in love with women and nature, a cultured and elegant King who stayed regularly in Île-de-France, establishing Paris as the capital of his kingdom.
The nursery rhyme Le bon Roi Dagobert, created at the end of the 18th century, aimed to ridicule the monarchy. Verses were added during the royal wanderings.
Through King Dagobert, the people criticized Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, opposing them to the "Good King Dagobert" to whom history grants numerous charters for the protection of the poor.
Dagobert upside down offers a journey to the heart of surrealism.
The collection questions the perception of reality and conventional uses. Sensitive to the questioning of conventions established by the French and especially Belgian surrealist movement created in 1924 by René Magritte, our designers offer reversible designs that, together, create a new vocabulary in women's and men's fashion.
The visual themes echo the language created by Magritte which combines six elements, fire, air, earth, woman (eroticism), house (domesticity) and bells (imagination in a trance).
